“CUHK MBA allowed me to broaden my horizons with an exchange experience, internship and opportunities to work with a diverse class. It set the grounds for me moving from corporate finance to corporate and investment banking.”

Working at a corporate finance department for a leading PRC based industrial equipment manufacturer, Ming has been looking for a move to the financial sector, which has more room for career development. Hong Kong has a well-established banking system and is home to many international banks, he believes studying in Hong Kong would give him an advantage in moving to the financial sector in China. Ming finally started a CUHK MBA because of its comprehensive finance curriculum and opportunities for international exposure.

Ming knew he had to make full use of the programme to build on strengths and increase his competitiveness at investment banks. He won the opportunity to join a 14-week associate trainee programme for ANZ’s Global Markets in Hong Kong. The trainee programme allowed him to work with a team of experts on dealing with financial proposals in an international bank setting. In addition to this, he went on exchange at Emory University in Georgia, U.S. and it equipped him with the skills to work with people from international backgrounds.

In 2018, Ming achieved a long-term goal and joined a leading institution in China – Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, as an AVP of Structured Finance and progressed to be the Associate Director of Debt Capital Market.

“It was truly an astonishing journey with the CUHK MBA, which opened my eyes and led me to where I am now.”
